The Pearl Griffin Memorial Latch Key Program hosted their annual Hamburger Supper in April. After having to cancel last year due to COVID-19 this year was a huge success! Brownwood came out in full force to support this local organization. Latch Key provides afterschool childcare services to families in the Brownwood ISD with parents who are working or going to school during afterschool hours and qualify financially. They provide an afternoon snack, help with homework, and have fun activities provided for the students until parents pick them up after work.
The families of Latch Key pay no fees for the services they receive. The program operates solely on grants, United Way, donations and fundraisers.

The Pearl Griffin Memorial Latch Key Program will be hosting their annual Hamburger Supper Fundraiser on Tuesday, April 13th from 5-7pm at 2411 Coggin Avenue.
This event will look a little different from past years as everything will be outdoor seating (weather permitting) and take out.
The Pecan Valley Kiwanis will be cooking the burgers and hotdogs for the program as in past years and then prepared in to-go boxes for safe and easy pick up.
Hamburger supper meals are $5 for children and $7 for adults which includes either a hotdog or hamburger with chips and a drink.
Our hamburger supper is sponsored by Humphrey Pete’s, Subway on Austin, Dr Pepper Bottling Co, The Benton Family, United Supermarket, Brookeshires and anonymous donors. Our sponsors have donated the items needed for this event 100% so all ticket sales stay within the program.

VAN WERT COUNTY – Yet again, two area rival schools will unite to
raise money for the United Way of Van Wert County. This year s Rivals
United event between Lincolnview and Crestview will take place the first
week of February leading up to the Lancer/Crestview boys basketball
game on Feb. 5.
United Way Director Vicki Smith noted that the
organization and the schools have had to get creative this year while a
global pandemic is still going on.
POTSDAM â Some school districts in each of the tri-counties have switched to remote learning after positive cases of COVID-19 were identified in their buildings.
In Jefferson County, Indian River announced it will be going remote; in Lewis County, Beaver River announced the same; and in St. Lawrence County, students who have moved to remote instruction include all elementary students at Lawrence Avenue Elementary School in Potsdam, universal pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students at Madrid-Waddington Central School and all students at Lisbon Central School.
Lawrence Avenue Elementary School students were dismissed at 1 p.m. Thursday, and out-of-district BOCES students were dismissed at their regular time. Morning pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students were dismissed at their regular 11:05 a.m. time, and there was no afternoon Latch Key, pre-kindergarten or kindergarten. Middle and high school students remained on their regular schedules.
