well, it is hot. i can tell you that for sure, jeff. getting in new numbers from the head quarters of the weather channel in atlanta is 106 in newark which is a new record. and warrington, virginia, outside of the beltway, 104 degrees and the dew point at 81, but 104 degrees and the dew point is important, because you talk about the heat index and what it feels like out there, 130. that is what it feels like in warrington, virginia, outside of the beltway right here. it is hot out here. you stand outside and you stand around for a little while and you will start sweating, no doubt about it. it is that hot. it is not going to cool down when that sun goes down. last night temperatures were right around 90 degrees in many spots at midnight here in the mid-atlantic and the northeast. this morning, before sunrise, many locations had locations
heat wave and you think that is bad and you might get some relief at night but you don t. the heat is soaked up by the concrete and at night there isn t any way for the heat to escape. it just comes back. last night temperatures only getting to the mid 80s. 15 miles inland your temperature is in the mid 70s. so many people living in these urban heat islands in the northeast not getting any relief at night from the horrible heat. i tell you what so uncomfortable for so many people. we are already into the mid 90s, upper 90s, philadelphia, new york city, boston you re better today. 101 already in richmond. it s humid out there. tomorrow a bit of a break. you see these temperatures dropping by around 7 or 8 degrees. we ll take it but these temperatures are still around 7 or 8 degrees above where we should be this time of year. completely dry, we are not getting pop up thunderstorms as we get in the summer.
