Newsroom. Im jim acosta in washington. We begin with the breaking news and the surprise outcome of a republican versus republican political fight in the State Of Texas. Attorney general ken paxton is thanking his supporters and slamming what he calls the sham impeachment proceeding against him. Just a few hours ago the state senate voted to acquit paxton on 16 charges of abusing his office to help a donor. The Attorney General says now that the, quote, truth has prevailed he will get back to work defending the Constitutional Rights of texans, so he says. Ed lavandera joins me from the texas state house in austin. Ed, tell us more. Reporter hey, jim. The last few hours as reaction has been pouring in reacting to the acquittal of Attorney General ken paxton, it is exposing what can probably only be described as an allout civil war between various factions of the Republican Party here in texas. As weve mentioned just a short while ago, ken paxton was acquitted by the majority of republica
moderate republicans voted in voted in a far right speaker of the house. with the intraparty war over house leadership resolved the idea was that those emergencies would finally be dealt with, at least that was the idea. today it became painfully obvious that the republicans new speaker, congressman mike johnson, is not really going to deal with any of it. this evening speaker johnson put every republican on the record voting for a bill that did not include any aid to ukraine, and which would provide aid to israel only on the condition congress defunded the irs to allow billionaires to cheat on their taxes. we have obligations, and we have commitments, and we want to protect and help our friend israel, but we have to keep our own house in order as well. you re saying you will not pass an israel aid bill unless it s offset? is that the correct interpretation? that s what we re going to do. i did not attach that for political purposes, okaych i attached it because, agai
And the National Party is overtly hiding the data, keeping secret the data that they have a Sub Committee held a that would let any of their own hearing about the new Trump Administration policy of candidates around the country decide rationally whether they, deporting people including children in the United States too, might want to run a little for lifesaving medical treatment. Bit against trump in order to thats what the hearing was about. The Trump Administration policy save their own skin because to send people to their deaths voters dont like trump. And this, this was the first stand against trump, or risking republican question asked at anybody leaking that information that hearing. In a way that might embarrass the president. That, of course, is a capital why would having an op

encouraged everyone to hang in there. this has been a tough election no matter how the rest of the results shake out, our government will remain closely divided with a lot more work to do. that can feel daunting but that s democracy. we did not hear from republican blake masters last night. heading into election day he and kelly were neck-and-neck in polling. we ll have to see how the count plays out. in the governor s race we were at the republican watch party as it became clear there won t be a result. here is kari lake. we had a big day today and don t let those cheaters and crooks think anything different. if we have to fight through the b.s. and garbage we ll fight through the b.s. and the garbage. last night republicans filed an emergency lawsuit against
