The death of a Black man who struggled with officers at a Texas jail during what family members say was probably a mental health crisis has been ruled a homicide.
Marvin Scott III died last month after he was jailed in Collin County on a marijuana possession charge. Seven jailers were fired and one resigned after his death, and Scott’s family is calling for their arrests after viewing video of Scott’s last moments inside the jail.
”What we’ve seen today is horrific, inhumane, very disheartening, and we want these individuals arrested immediately,” Scott’s mother, LaSandra Scott, said Wednesday.

The family of a Black man, who died in a jail in Texas last month, have called for the arrests of detention officers after viewing video footage of his final moments.
Marvin Scott III s death was ruled a homicide by the Collin County Medical Examiner s Office on Wednesday.
In a news release, Dr. William Rohr said his findings show Scott s cause of death was fatal acute stress response in an individual with previously diagnosed schizophrenia during restraint struggle with law enforcement. A final autopsy report is to be released at a later date.

Two women arrested in the slaying of a Seattle woman who disappeared in Dallas face new charges, and court documents reveal additional details about the case.
Authorities filed one count each of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence against Lisa Jo Dykes, 57, and Nina Tamar Marano, 49, earlier this month in connection with the death of Marisela Botello Valadez, court records show.

Collin County chief medical examiner Dr. William Rohr shared his findings Wednesday, more than a month after Scott died while in custody at the Collin County Jail. The
Dallas Morning News reports Allen police officers arrested the 26-year-old Black man on March 14 on marijuana possession charges. Officers say they apprehended Scott at premium outlet mall, where he had been acting “erratic.” Scott was subsequently transferred to an emergency room “due to the possible ingestion of drugs,” He remained at the hospital for about three hours, before he was ultimately booked into Collin County Jail.
