Dzaki Sukarno, a familiar face at the Las Cruces Farmers & Crafts Market, earned a golden ticket on the new season of American Idol.
His segment aired Feb. 28. With the golden ticket, he now moves on to the Hollywood round.
Sukarno, 20, who moved to Las Cruces with his family about 10 years ago, comes from a farming background. He grew up with goats and sheep and works in the spring and summer surveying fields for agriculture.
The City of Las Cruces continues its front line efforts against COVID-19 with a new campaign designed to create more awareness about the COVID-19 vaccines and information about the registration process. Here is a statement from the City: “Sleeve Up Las Cruces” events will begin on Saturday, February 27, at the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market. City staff and volunteers will kick off the campaign by helping Las Cruces residents register for COVID vaccinations.
City of Las Cruces staff and volunteers will be onsite from 8 a.m.– 1 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 27 on the stage at the Plaza de Las Cruces for the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market. Residents will be able to get general information and have access to assistance with the online registration process. Registering for a COVID-19 vaccination will help put their name on the list to receive a an appointment for the vaccination as soon as they become available for each individual s vaccine group.
