On Aug. 22, Missouri State University and surrounding areas of Springfield experienced flash flooding after record amounts of rain, resulting in abandoned cars, rescheduled events and soaked students.
While conserving water is always a good idea, "right now, (fire) probably is the overriding concern," says Larry Woods of the Office of Emergency Management.
The new hire comes after nearly a year of turmoil at the center, where water quality issues led to the loss of crucial permits from FWC and at least 20 staff members resigned.
