SAN FRANCISCO The Utah legislature last week passed HB72, which requires manufacturers to add porn filters to all cellphones and tablets sold to Utah customers. HB72 sponsor Rep. Susan Pulsipher claims the bill only introduced in late December is a new tool to help parents keep minors safe from “damaging” and “harmful” early exposure to adult content.
No one wants to see young teens exposed to pornography before they’re ready. But the data doesn’t support the idea that this problem is prevalent or pernicious enough to warrant broad restrictions on free speech.
Dr. Jacob Gibson and Chris McKenna recently gave public comments in favor of the bill. Medina welcomes new Fire Chief Larry Walters Alyssa Alfano, cleveland.com
MEDINA, Ohio Mayor Dennis Hanwell swore in Larry Walters as the city’s newest fire chief last week.
Walters has worked for the Medina Fire Department since 1992. He was a firefighter from 1992 to 1997 and then from 2001 to 2017. In 2017, he was promoted to captain. He also serves as a rescue team leader for the Medina County All-Hazards Team.
Members of the fire department, city officials and community members gathered at City Hall to see Walters get sworn in.
“It’s very special. The support, obviously, is incredible and the opportunity to serve, as I have been, just in a different role, is just incredible,” Walters said. “I’m very excited.”

Littlejohn to be guest speaker at special Quinn church service
STEUBENVILLE Quinn Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church, 515 N. Fifth St., will wrap up its observance of Black History Month on Sunday with Jonathan Littlejohn as the finale in a series of special speakers for the church’s 11 a.m. Livestream Online or Zoom service.
A graduate of Steubenville High School, Littlejohn is the son of Vickie Littlejohn, a retired educator, and Edward Sr., a real estate developer. As Jonathan learned the business ethics of his family, he always wanted to become a businessman and open his own business, a church committee member explained.
