The pro-Taiwan association already has branches covering Europe, Africa, Latin America, and West Asia, with hundreds of member lawmakers working to improve relations and enhance ties with the country. The official launch ceremony for the chapter has been scheduled for Friday (May 7), according to MOFA s East Asian and Pacific Affairs Department chief Larry Tseng (曾瑞利).

Ministry looking to help 80 Taiwanese leave India By Lu Yi-hsuan and Jake Chung / Staff reporter, with staff writer The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) yesterday said that it is assisting more than 80 Taiwanese citizens to return from India, but panned media reports that it had been against the idea. Six staff members of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India have tested positive for COVID-19: two diplomats and four employees, with one of them having become seriously ill, the ministry said. The TECC’s deputy director-general is reportedly one of the patients, although the ministry on Wednesday said that it could not give out the patients’ details out of consideration for their privacy.
