Council member Dan Sabers pointed to the proposed building renovation as an “amazing investment” for an aging Main Street that’s seen several corroding buildings get demolished the past few years.
Building owners say the rooftop feature would bring "fun, new element" of outdoor dining to downtown, while local commission member claims rooftop restaurant doesn't fit in downtown Mitchell.
“This business fits their criteria of the ordinance we have in place. We don’t really have any grounds to deny it,” council member Susan Tjarks said of the Flower Shop dispensary.
“The dispensary issues are uncontrollable, and it brings an element into society that is not conducive, I believe, to what the city is planning to do with Main Street,” Don Dahl said at the meeting.
