LINCOLN – Building Committee members, left out of the loop on a planned move of district administrative offices to the reconstructed Lincoln High School campus, are questioning plans for the space, including a new IT space and private restroom.
Members of the LHS Building Committee recently expressed frustration that they’d been shut out of the administrative move process completely, and didn’t realize the move was back on the table after it was deferred early in the construction process due to lack of funds.

Officials share early plans for new LHS athletic center
Early plans for a student athletic center at Lincoln High School, drawn up by RGB Architects, show space for basketball and tennis courts, a practice track, a turf area and storage for physical education and athletics.
LINCOLN – RGB Architects and Lincoln school leaders have shared early plans for a new athletic center at Lincoln High School, which would feature space for physical education classes and various athletic programs.
Preliminary plans by RGB Architects call for a roughly 19,000-square-foot athletic center, to be located on what is currently field space along Route 116.
LINCOLN – The smell of gas inside Lincoln High School’s newly constructed culinary department prompted a call to the Fire Department and the evacuation of students and staff, leaving members of the project team wondering what went wrong.
Upon further review by members of the project team, it was determined that there was an issue with the automatic shut-off valves associated with four gas range stoves. The valves will need to be repaired and replaced, at a cost of $18,000.
The LHS Building Committee learned last week that the recently installed gas fittings in the culinary wing weren’t to specifications, the latest in a long string of issues with the LHS renovation project.

Athletic center, concession stand, among goals
LINCOLN – Among the projects Lincoln school leaders are looking to invest in are a new student athletic center and concession stand, relocating the school district’s administrative offices, selling Fairlawn School and a potential addition to Lonsdale Elementary.
There are stipulations involved with each, but school officials doubled-down on their commitment to the list of goals during Monday’s School Committee meeting. The ultimate objective, they said, is to complete the projects with little to no additional taxpayer funding.
The town is expecting to have about $6.7 million in reimbursement funds available to spend as a result of the Lincoln High School renovation/construction project. Bond premium money is being earmarked for each of the following projects, except for the concession stand and Fairlawn School sale.

LINCOLN – It can be hard to imagine now, but 2020 began as all years do, with the promise of a new beginning.
Our daily lives were collectively changed in early spring, when the arrival of COVID-19 halted most activity, wiped toilet paper off the shelves and forced families to quarantine.
