Murfreesboro man dies after paddling accident on Percy Priest Lake Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency A Saturday afternoon kayak trip turned deadly on Percy Priest Lake Saturday, April 24. A group of three were paddling near the East Fork boat ramp on the East Fork of the Stones River in Rutherford County when one of the kayakers, Larry Basler, 60, of Murfreesboro, capsized and began calling for help. Basler was rescued to the bank, by the other paddlers in the group, where CPR was administered. Rescue crews from Rutherford County Fire, EMS and Sheriff s Office responded with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Basler was taken to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville and treated for his injuries. He did not recover and died Sunday evening.

TWRA: Man dies after kayak capsizes on Percy Priest in Rutherford Co

A man is dead after his kayak capsized on Percy Priest Lake in Rutherford County on Saturday, officials said. Larry Basler, a 60-year-old Murfreesboro man, was with a group of three kayakers when his boat overturned near the East Fork boat ramp, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said. Basler called for help, was rescued and given CPR on the bank of the lake.  He died Sunday evening at TriStar Skyline Medical Center, the TWRA said. Crews from the TWRA, Rutherford County Fire Department, Rutherford County EMS and Rutherford County Sheriff s Office responded to the scene. The TWRA said the cause of the incident is under investigation.

(WTVF) — A man died during a kayaking trip over the weekend on Percy Priest Lake after his kayak capsized on the East Fork of the Stones River near Murfreesboro. Three people were paddling near the East Fork boat ramp when 60-year-old Larry Basler s kayak capsized, and he began calling for help. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said the other paddlers rescued Basler to the bank and administered CPR. Crews from several rescue groups responded to the incident. TWRA said Basler was taken to a hospital in Nashville and treated, but he died on Sunday night. TWRA will continue to investigate what happened.
