NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio – The city later this year hopes to start accepting job applications from police officers and firefighters already trained and employed in other communities.
They’re known as “lateral transfers.” City Council, through legislation approved in February, has asked the North Royalton Civil Service Commission to write new rules for police and firefighter transfers from other jurisdictions.
“This would open a bigger pool of (police and fire) candidates,” Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz said. “We’re seeing a dwindling number of men and women taking civil service tests for these positions.

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio – The city will ask the Cleveland Division of Water for financial help in replacing main water lines, more than a dozen of which have broken in North Royalton during the first month of 2021 alone.
The issue came up during a Feb. 2 meeting of City Council’s Utilities Committee. Councilmen Vincent Weimer and Michael Wos discussed water main breaks that have occurred in the southwest corner of town, within their Wards 5 and 6, respectively. The breaks have cracked streets and driveways.
