After two years of being held online because of the pandemic, Elgin s annual the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. prayer breakfast is returning as an in-person event.
Handel’s Messiah will get a slightly different spin next week when more than a half dozen Elgin-area orchestras and choirs come together to perform the holiday favorite and those in the audience get to add their voices as well.
There s one holiday tradition that without fail Elgin resident Mally Miceli never misses: participating in a sing-along Messiah. "For years, my family and I would trek to Chicago to participate in the annual sing-along," Miceli said. "About four years ago, we were driving back from the city and my daughter asked, why don t we do this in Elgin? "
