Daniel H. French, 83
Daniel H. French, an attorney and school teacher, died on his 83rd birthday, surrounded by family.
Mr. French attended the University of Michigan, and then Western Michigan University where he earned his undergraduate degree. In between stints in college, he sailed with the Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes and around the world. He went on to earn his law degree from Detroit College of Law with an interest in civil rights.
Mr. French practiced law for nearly 40 years in Cassopolis. In 2004, he and his family moved to Florida where he pursued his lifetime interest in teaching, and taught middle school and high school in the Miami area.

Jim Lark, co-founder and co-owner of legendary West Bloomfield fine dining destination The Lark, died Thursday. He was 90.
News of his death was provided in a news release from his daughter Adrian Lark, formerly the general manager of the restaurant.
Jim and his wife Mary Lark opened The Lark in 1981 as a high-end European country inn with global influences inspired by the couple s travels. The renowned restaurant was named a best restaurant by Conde Nast Traveler magazine and was a perennial Gourmet Magazine Top Table Winner.
