(CBS4) – The Larimer County Department of Health & Environment announced its local public health order will expire at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. Starting on Monday, the county will only follow public health orders set by the state. On Thursday afternoon, Gov. Jared Polis’ office confirmed to CBS4 that the state will lift the face mask requirement for Coloradans who are vaccinated against COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask, indoors or outdoors, in most settings or stay 6 feet apart.

We are informing you about our efforts to move the vast majority of our classes back to in-person. We will also send the message below later this morning to current students and also will be informing our prospective students. We are working with the Office of the Registrar, Deans and Department leadership and schedulers, and other divisions at CSU to make this shift for online and hybrid classes to in-person, and restore current face-to-face classes to full capacity. Larimer County Reports Lowest COVID Positivity Rate In Months As of Monday morning (Dec. 28), Larimer County s two-week COVID-19 positivity rating stood at 6.3%, according to the latest data from the Larimer County Department of Health & Environment. The positivity rating is the lowest it s been since October when it hit 5.1%, before it rose due to a wave of cases in the fall. Before October, two-week positivity stood under 5% from late April, hitting a low of 1.1% on June 15. The county s overall prevalence rate is also on the decline, hitting 407 cases per 100,000 residents on Sunday (Dec. 27). Although Larimer County s overall prevalence and percent positivity rates are declining, December remains the deadliest month in the pandemic in the county, as 45 residents died from COVID-19.
