The contra fund category gave an average return of around 29.19% in the three year horizon. The category has three schemes. They have offered returns ranging between 23.18%-38.87%. SBI Contra Fund offered the highest return of around 38.87% in the three year horizon.
We considered equity categories such as large cap, mid cap, small cap, large & mid cap, focused fund, ELSS, value & contra fund categories with schemes. We considered the schemes that have more than Rs 100 crore AUM. We did not consider flexi cap schemes as they have been introduced just three years before. We also did not consider the multi cap category as the data of the benchmark was not available for comparison.
The mid cap category was the worst hit in the first six months of the year (January - June). Around 69% schemes failed to beat their respective benchmarks. Out of 29 schemes, 20 schemes failed to beat their respective benchmarks.
