These Wisconsin tourist attractions were closed in 2020 but are open again

These Wisconsin tourist attractions were closed in 2020 but are open again Chelsey Lewis, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel At this time last year, Wisconsin state park campgrounds remained closed on what is traditionally the kickoff to the summer camping season.   Once they reopened in June, they were busier than ever, as people sought places to get away safely while other indoor attractions remained closed.   A few outdoor attractions stayed closed for the summer, too, from Rock Island State Park to Parfrey s Glen.   The legendary Tommy Bartlett Show in Wisconsin Dells closed permanently, and others, like New Glarus Brewing Co. and the Aldo Leopold shack, remain closed.

Parfrey s Glen, Pewits Nest, Rock Island state parks to open for visitors again

In a sign of things slowly returning to normal, three popular state parks properties will reopen more than a year after they were closed, and visitors will again be able to scale observation towers and playgrounds in parks. Parfrey s Glen and Pewits Nest state natural areas, both near Baraboo in Sauk County, opened quietly last week. The Department of Natural Resources officially announced their reopening in a statement Tuesday. The state natural areas were among the 40 parks that were closed last April due to overcrowding that led to social distancing concerns as well as problems with trash and vandalism. Rock Island State Park, off the tip of Door County, will reopen May 28. The DNR closed the park last year in part due to social distancing concerns on the Karfi ferry that services the island, as well as damage to the island s dock, which had been submerged by high lake levels.

The retail chain s stock price really hasn t changed in a decade. So a group of activist investors is making a play to take over the company s board of directors. The investors sent a letter to shareholders Monday saying that it wants to elect nine candidates to Kohl s 12-person board.  We reject the investor group’s attempt to seize control of our board and disrupt our momentum, Kohl s wrote in the statement Monday. The letter cit

The popular swimming and sunbathing beaches at parks like Kohler-Andrae, Peninsula and Devil s Lake turn into on-ramps for ice fishermen and winter walkers. Bike trails become cross-country ski routes. Bare trees and exposed rock formations get a coat of snow and ice formations.  Embrace the season and check out these eight state parks that are particularly great in winter. Rib Mountain State Park, Wausau  Rib Mountain is home to Granite Peak, a ski area with the state s biggest vertical drop 700 feet. The mountain has 75 runs, four terrain parks and five chair lifts (including two high-speed lifts).
