LAPEER TWP. The Lapeer County Health Dept. provides numerous services for the senior citizen population in the county, including home delivered meals. Wendy Brown, senior programs director, wants to ensure eligible seniors take advantage of the meal program, particularly when weather conditions deteriorate and getting to the store for groceries could be a challenge.
The Michigan Dept. of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has recognized National Influenza Vaccination Week this week (Dec. 5-9) and reminds Lapeer County residents that it’s not too late to get a flu vaccine. Local, state and national healthcare officials expect an active flu season this winter, and urge residents particularly vulnerable pediatric and elderly residents to get vaccinated and take preventative measures to stay healthy.
