-DREAMLINER GROUNDED: All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines, the world’s largest users of Boeing 787 jets, grounded their entire fleet of Dreamliners today in the biggest blow yet to the troubled passenger jet’s image.
An All Nippon 787 made an emergency landing in Japan today because of smoke coming from the aircraft, prompting the decision to ground its entire fleet for the first time, said Ryosei Nomura, a spokesman for Tokyo-based All Nippon. Japan Air will also idle its fleet today. The carriers didn’t say for how long the planes will be grounded.

Lao woman dies after receiving coronavirus jab

A 63-year-old woman died in Laos after being given the AstraZeneca vaccine last week, the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control announced on May 11.
The women, identified as Bounya from Na-khoun village in Vientiane’s Naxaithong district, was vaccinated at the Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao-ITECC) on May 7.
“She passed all the checks including a temperature test before she was vaccinated and did not feel unwell immediately afterwards,” Dr Bandith Xomphonphakdy, a vaccine expert, said.

The earliest memory of the country winning the gold medal at an overseas competition was in the 1987 SEA Games in Jakarta, Indonesia when Zabidi Ali triumphed in the Class F of the men’s
pencak silat event at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.
The country also bagged three silver and two bronze medals in the sport, including their first female SEA Games medallist Yuszarinah binti Yusoff.
