LANSING A Lansing police officer has been fired for sending a racist message to several other officers, according to the chief.
Lansing Police Chief Daryl Green said the officer was fired after an internal affairs investigation. He did not name the officer. The administration does not tolerate discriminatory behavior, Green wrote in an emailed statement. The discipline is currently in dispute, any further comment would jeopardize the grievance process.
Green said during Tuesday s Board of Police Commissioners meeting that he discussed the situation in detail with the board s complaint review committee, and they agreed with his decision to fire the officer.
