KUALA LUMPUR: The healthcare sector in Sri Lanka is currently facing its most acute medicine shortage in the history of the country, putting at peril the very lives of those who depend on its services.
Members of SriLankan Airlines’ frequent flyer programme, FlySmiLes, can now donate their Miles to worthy causes fronted by SriLankan Cares, the airline’s corporate social responsibility arm. Donated miles will enable patients, especially children from disadvantaged backgrounds, to travel overseas for life-saving medical treatment that would otherwise be unattainable to them. FlySmiLes members can donate 1,000.
Sri Lankan Cares takes on the cause of airlifting internationally donated essential medicines and medical equipment to hospitals in Sri Lanka, free of freight charges. The corporate social responsibility arm of Sri Lankan Airlines aims to provide timely relief to hospitals that are struggling to cope with the ongoing drug shortage and patients who depend.
