William Bernt Johnson, 85, of Coldwater passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
In accordance to his wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
William was born July 13, 1935 in Jackson to Bernt and Dorothy (Rydt) Johnson. He grew up in Jackson where he and his sister, Marian, had a wonderful childhood.
Bill was a Jackson High School graduate and had continued his education at Albion College where he received his Bachelorâs Degree in education. He had taught for 29 years spending 6 of them in Tekonsha and his remaining 23 at Coldwater High School in the English Department until his retirement in 1985. He had been a member of the Battle Creek Tennis club, the CEA, MEA, and the NEA. Bill had earned the title of tennis city champion in both Jackson and Coldwater.
