Warrington firm sees affordable housing plan on 'bomb site' land approved

COUNCILLORS have passed plans for 77 affordable homes on land described as a bomb site . The scheme on derelict land in Llandudno, was originally for 89 affordable homes and councillors deferred it first time round – again against officer recommendations to refuse. The applicant, Lane End Development Construction Ltd from Thelwall, put in a subsequent application for five business units on the site, then came back with new plans for 77 homes – all to be marketed by Clwyd Alyn housing association. The new scheme will see 21 affordable two, three and four-bed homes for rent and 56 one and two-bed apartments split between general needs and housing for the over-55s, on the former railway sidings.

Conwy councillors defer decision on Llandudno affordable home scheme

Waste land off Builder Street, Llandudno. Picture: David Powell/North Wales Live. Councillors deferred a planning decision on 89 affordable homes on a so-called “bomb site” in the heart of Llandudno – going against officer calls to refuse permission. The plans would see Lane End Development Construction Ltd from Warrington and Clwyd Alyn working together on a 56 apartment and 33 house scheme on derelict land off Builder Street, next to Llandudno railway station. Conwy county council’s planning committee on Wednesday heard officers objected to the plans because it partly sits in a conservation area and is an LDP allocated employment site for B1 (Business) land use.
