this is new day weekend with christi blackwell and victor blackwell. tropical storm florence brought catastrophic flooding and the worst is on its way. florence is creeping across the carolinas right now, just 3 miles per hour. already 13 people have died. meanwhile, 800,000 customers do not have power this morning in both states. and hundreds are still stranded in their homes. the storm has dropped 40 inches of rain since making landfall friday morning. it could be three to five days before the water levels peak. and that could pose problems to those along the coastal communities and the dozens of
i worry that because of a category 2 people will let their guard down but the national hurricane center is saying don t, we still have a very dangerous storm surge and epic flooding on the way is the storm is expected to stall. folks across the northeast, hurricane sandy, that was a category one when it made landfall and did destructive damage, part of the reason was because of its size and the storm surge and the rainfall. just because it is a category 2 it is 1 mile shy of a major hurricane. the 5 am advisory just out, we are seeing the radar here, the outer bands of rain moving close to the outer banks, we could see a tornado watch in the next couple hours because of these landfalling storms. we have a threat for severe weather including tornadoes. future radar, this model makes landfall friday.
