WATERTOWN â The Zoning Board of Appeals, meeting Wednesday, January 27, closed a Public Hearing on an application by David McCarthy, 32 Carson Ave., for construction of a two-car carport, then approved the request for a 26-foot front line variance.
Mr. McCarthy said he wanted to construct the carport over a paved turn-around space where he has been parking two of his familyâs four vehicles. He would like to protect all four cars from the elements, but he only has a two-car garage.
He said he has two cars, his mother, who lives with him, has another and his son has the fourth. All the homes on the street are built closer to the street, and the cars will actually be around 25 feet from the edge of the road, due to the right-of-way. He said he would prefer not to add any additional pavement to his lot.
