phone. joe, this was supposed to happen earlier, but legal challenges delayed it. how did we get here? quite an amazing story many fact. what happened was, after all the protests we had last year, black lives matter and others, especially about confederate figures on statues around the country, here in the state of virginia, the governor took the step to say i want this statue down here in richmond. and what followed was a year-long court battle in which finally the supreme court of virginia got involved and said essentially that the rules that were in place when this statue was given to the state of virginia along with the land don t apply because the government of virginia no longer believes that it s in the best interest of the people. so they decided to take it down.
