While they cleared the path on Highway 6, 1492 Land Back Lane still has a large presence in the Caledonia area as other roads remain closed.
The issue at hand, the McKenzie Meadows development and what many at the disputed land feel was a lack of proper consultation, has not been resolved and the opening of the highway was meant as an olive branch to further discussion.
We felt this was a good time to check in with what is happening.
We spoke with Skyler Williams, who has acted as a spokesperson for the movement, for a full-length interview.

Land Back Lane agrees to moving and dismantling some barricades By Lynda Powless and Victoria Gray Writers Work is underway to clear away and move back barricades that have plagued traffic in and around Six Nations and Caledonia. The Haudenosaunee Land Defenders at 1492 Land Back Lane (the former McKenzie Meadows Housing Development) have already cleared some debris on the Highway Six Bypass blocked after an altercation with OPP last August and will begin moving back barricades along Argyle Street on the outskirts of Caledonia today.
