Winner of the 2022 Wakley–Wu Lien Teh Prize: the dutiful son by his father s bedside

The 2022 Wakley–Wu Lien Teh Prize invited submissions sharing ideas of “a heart full of great compassion and empathy” in modern Chinese clinical practice.1 We are pleased and grateful to have received 187 submissions twice the number of submissions in 2021 telling touching and provocative stories about all aspects of medical practice in China. Essays were shortlisted by two editors at The Lancet Group and anonymised essays were sent to external advisers in China for their reflections and thoughts.
