is it possible that there might come a day if he is, say, convicted of a crime in new york that something could happen where he could have that moment where he kind of admits where he really is in the world? i don t think so. that would be a sign of mental health actually. the ability to grieve is normal. i don t think he can do that. i think he can only become more enraged and psychotic. dr. lance dodes, thank you very much for joining us once again. we always appreciate it. sure. good to be with you. thanks for having me. thank you. coming up, we ll discuss how the republican party continues to try to rig the next presidential election for donald trump who we ve just heard is becoming more psychotic and as prosecutors close in on him and he tries to find a buyer for his now failing washington hotel. that s next. (dad vo) i saw them out of the corner of my eye.
mental illness is hobbling donald trump is contained in this tweet by the new york times maggie haberman. trump has been telling a number of people he is in contact with that he expects he will be reinstated by august. a former crack addict is now taking credit for the idea of trump s august resurrection. mike lindell who sells pillows and is being sued for his lies about the election told the daily beast today, quote, if trump is saying august, that is probably because he heard me say it publicly. now that we are on the threshold of the long, hot summer of donald trump s discontent, which will not end with him being reinstated it s time for a check on donald trump s mental health. joining us now is dr. lance dodes, retired assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at harvard medical school. he contributed to the book the dangerous case of donald trump.

Last Wednesday, thousands of Donald Trump s white supremacist supporters, at his de facto command, launched an assault on the U.S. Capitol with the goal of stopping Joe Biden from becoming the next president. While investigations are ongoing, some people in the mob may have planned to kidnap or assassinate members of Congress they consider traitors, along with Vice President Mike Pence, who presided over the ceremonial count of the electoral votes. Trump s fascist mob was well equipped for the task, as some of their members were armed with guns and other weapons, and clad in paramilitary gear.
Five people have now died during and after the Capitol attack. Dozens more were injured. This Trump-inspired uprising is likely not over and may be in its early stages. There are credible reports by the FBI and other American law enforcement agencies that right-wing paramilitaries and other domestic terrorists are planning even more violence across the country in the days
he doesn t have that, and that s why he can treat other people with complete abandon and literally abandon. if they re for him, he loves them, if they re against him, they re horrible. as black and white and very simple. writing in 2017 in the book that we mentioned, the danger case of donald trump, you said that these characteristics will only become worse. do you see evidence that that has happened? absolutely. and they will continue to be worse. if he didn t have his party behind him, he would have been out of the office a long time ago because he s so obviously incompetent. but he will be propped up. as long as he is propped up, i think he ll survive. but he will certainly get worse the more he s challenged. dr. lance dodes, thank you for joining us once again tonight. we always appreciate it. thank you very much. sure. when we come back, last word viewers get tonight s last word.
it s a psychotic-like state. the more you press him, the more you see how disorganized and empty he is. the more he flies into a disorganized rage. so yeah, and by the way, in terms of being god, he also made several what you might call freudian slips during the interview today. he kept mixing up who he was and who the country was. he said i have the best economy. i, not the country. i defeated the caliphate. it s not just a slip of the tongue. he really doesn t get it. he thinks of himself as a dictator and it s all him and no one else really matters. dr. lance dodes, thank you for joining us once again, thank you for starting this conversation on this program. back in what was the second month, basically, of the trump presidency. when i know it wasn t comfortable for people in your profession to be entering this discussion, but as you said at that time, you felt more driven by the duty to warn, and that s
