Lanark News: Join in healthy Zumba fun

Lanark News: Join in healthy Zumba fun By Pat Sewell Funderburk Special to the Times Hi Y all, Hope that Valentine’s Day was a pleasant day for all of you. I saw this on Facebook on Valentines morning: “Today I just want to thank God for the gift of life. No complaints. No requests. Just thankful to be alive. Amen” It got my day started off right! It is with a sad heart that I tell you (those of you who know him) Reverend Pleasant (Pleas Vause) passed away on Jan. 26. Pleas was a good man, Pastor and he loved God and his congregation. I had the pleasure of going to the Lanark Village Community Church at the time that he was the Pastor there and got to know him quite well. He always cared about Lanark Village and the people who lived here. There will be a graveside service in the Tallahassee National Cemetery on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. Diane Vause asked for prayers for her and the family at this most difficult time. He will be sorely missed by those who knew him and love

Lanark News: Community church begins adult Sunday School

Lanark News: Community church begins adult Sunday School By Pat Sewell Funderburk Special to the Times Hi Y all, Happy Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day Happy Birthday to all of those February birthdays among our Lanark residents. We discovered one year that there were lots of us. I would like to say a Happy Heavenly Birthday to Jim Chapman who passed recently. To all of those people who did not get the message that the Lanark Village Golf Club Yard Sale had to be canceled, I apologize. It was a decision that was made at the very last minute and it is hard to get the word out. We appreciate so much those of you who support us by coming to our sales, but please remember that the sales are a lot of work by volunteers to benefit an important cause. We will reschedule it at a later date.

Lanark News: An opportunity to have a say in Carrabelle By Pat Sewell Funderburk Columnist Hi Y all, Boil Water Notice Rescinded. If you have not been at your Lanark home, it is best to let your faucets run just a bit. Several Lanark residents make an effort to advise you as soon as they know. Notice is posted on Facebook, Lanark Groups, flyers and Oyster Radio. The City of Carrabelle Planning and Zoning Meeting was held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 21, at the City Hall. On the Agenda, Item 1, was whether to approve/disapprove conceptual site plan for 204 St James Ave., now vacant land between the former Gulf State Community Bank and the Post Office, along Highway 98. There was neither approval nor disapproval agreement; motions to that effect each died for lack of a second, and the issue has been tabled until the Feb. 16 meeting.

For those of you who haven t heard I am saddened to tell you that Lanark Village lost a long-time resident, Claudette Jo Martin, who passed away on Jan. 15 in Tallahassee. She also was an active member of the Lanark Community Church. Condolences from Lanark to her family and friends. She will be missed by so many in the area. What a wonderful lady she was!
