Suspected Kuki militants attacked Koutruk village under Lamshang Police station around 8.30 pm on Tuesday, following which the 5th IRB stationed at Koutruk and village volunteers retaliated the attack.
The shootout at Tairenpokpi started after villagers of Tairenpokpi Maning Leikai went searching for their lost cows at the intersection of Kangpokpi district and Imphal West district.
Tension erupted at Tairenpokpi, Imphal West, after a CRPF personnel apprehended a man on Saturday with a license gun but failed to produce the license.
