Friends of the Night Sky attended a meeting of the Lampasas City Council on Monday to request recognition for one of Texas’ biggest assets: the night sky. “We are asking you tonight to set aside February 2024 as Night Sky Awareness [Month],” said Dorothy Person, Lampasas Friends of the Night Sky lead volunteer for government relations.
With live release rates climbing and the Lampasas Animal Shelter receiving a high number of cats on a regular basis, the Lampasas City Council on Monday approved the construction of a cattery. The building, which is estimated to cost $28,700, will be paid entirely with a grant through the Best Friends Animal Society.
