At least 340 million children under 5 (one in two) suffer from hidden hunger, known as micronutrient malnutrition.
Large scale food fortification (LSFF) is the addition of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A, vitamin D, iron, zinc, and folic acid, to staple foods like wheat or maize flour, edible oils and fats, salt, sugar, and rice. Biofortification aims to increase nutrient levels in crops during plant growth rather than through manual means during processing.

Lyon slumped to a shock 1-0 home defeat to Metz on Sunday that ended a long unbeaten run and allowed Paris Saint-Germain to stay top of Ligue 1.
Rudi Garcia’s side had come into Sunday’s late match on the back of 16 league games without defeat, knowing that a win would have put them back in the lead of France’s top flight.
However Aaron Leya Iseka struck in the final minute to snatch the points for resilient Metz, who had to withstand a second-half onslaught before finally prevailing and moving ninth.
“We pushed, they pushed, and we were rewarded for our efforts. We knew that we would have little of the ball and that we would have to counter well, and that’s what we did,” said Belgian Leya Iseka.

Lyon slumped to a shock 1-0 home defeat to Metz on Sunday that ended a long unbeaten run and allowed Paris Saint-Germain to stay top of Ligue 1.
Rudi Garcia s side had come into Sunday s late match on the back of 16 league games without defeat, knowing that a win would have put them back in the lead of France s top flight.
However Aaron Leya Iseka struck in the final minute to snatch the points for resilient Metz, who had to withstand a second-half onslaught before finally prevailing and moving ninth.
Their first chance came in the third minute but Kadewere could not connect to a cross from Lucas Paqueta. Another opportunity beckoned in the 18th minute but Marcelo’s header off Leo Dubois free-kick sailed over the crossbar.
Lyon continued to dominate ball possession and in the 37th minute, Toko Ekambi forced a great save from Algeria international Alexandre Oukidja when he latched onto a pass from Depay.
Three minutes before the half-time break, Lamine Gueye’s shot off Farid Boulaya’s cross bounced back off the bar.
In the 48th minute, John Boye denied Kadewere a clear sight of goal. Seven minutes later, the Maroons had Thomas Delaine forced off with injury and it looked as if they would be helpless due to the hosts’ pouring attack.
The encounter got off to an electrifying start as both teams got a couple of chances to take an early lead.
Notwithstanding, it was Adrian Ursea’s men who took an 18th-minute lead through French forward of Algerian descent Amine Gouiri. The 20-year-old scored from the penalty spot after Malian defender Boubakar Kouyate was adjudged to have handled Gouiri’s shot.
The goal was a reality check for the hosts who tried all in their arsenal to get an equaliser against Metz.
After much ado, they got something to shout about in the 79th minute, after Boye inadvertently turned the ball past goalkeeper Walter Benitez after Khephren Thuram’s shot had bounced off the post.
