LHSAA shuts down wrestling season until state meet High School Wrestling (Source: WAFB) By WAFB Staff | January 27, 2021 at 11:13 PM CST - Updated January 28 at 5:18 PM
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The LHSAA held a news conference on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 24 hours after shutting down wrestling until the state meet in Baton Rouge at the end of February.
The move was made after a reported COVID outbreak connected to the Louisiana Classics meet at Lamar Dixon in mid-January.
“To my knowledge, as I sit here today, we had five athletes from four schools that tested positive for COVID,” said LHSAA executive director Eddie Bonine. “One or two allegedly, we’re working on that, were positive before they got to the tournament.”

In last week s column we talked about the release of rainbow trout in the big pond at Lamar Dixon. The trout were purchased by the Ascension Parish government and stocked for the benefit of folks to be able to enjoy some time with family and kids to get a chance to catch a few fish that you’d have to travel a long way to find them.
So on Monday, the 21st, Goosie and I met at the big pond to film an episode for Ascension Outdoors TV that will air on EATEL channel 4 or 704 during the month of January. We arrived at 10:00 am to meet with our videographer, Trevor Vampran and got things underway.

LaMar Dixon isn’t giving up on his long-promised business incubator, even if the building it was planned for remains in legal limbo.
The local real estate agent and principal of Dixon/Lee Development Group is preparing to open Capital Station, an incubator for first-time entrepreneurs, at 1322 W. Broad St. The VCU-area storefront is about a mile from the facility’s originally intended location in the former American National Bank Building at 201 W. Brookland Park Blvd.
