AUSTIN, Texas â Out of Many, One: Portraits of Americaâs Immigrants, a book of oil-painted portraits by former President George W. Bush, highlights immigrants from all over the world and their remarkable stories.
Gilbert Tuhabonye, a gifted athlete and author, is one of 43 immigrants featured in the book.
Landing the center picture on the front cover, Tuhabonye, who is 46 years old, said he was blown away by the presidentâs talent and honored to be acknowledged by the former commander-in-chief.
âItâs been a great feeling to see my photo, my portrait right in the gallery in the Bush library, standing among 43. It takes me back to my journey of where I came from and what Iâve been through to be recognized by the president,â

AUSTIN, Texas Faith leaders from across the state of Texas are coming together in the capital city to protest proposed voting restriction laws.
“One nation under God.” an excerpt from the Pledge of Allegiance, is why Frederick Haynes, lead pastor of Friendship West Church, made a 180-mile trip from Dallas to Austin.

AUSTIN, Texas – Confederate Heroes Day is a holiday celebrated in the South to honor confederate soldiers of the Civil War. In Texas, it falls on January 19 and is considered a state holiday.
It’s a day many lawmakers have debated whether to acknowledge or remove from state calendars.
It’s a heated conversation that’s gained even more traction following the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol earlier this month. During those moments a viral photo was captured of a man holding a Confederate flag inside of the U.S. Capitol.
