Casa Bonita plans September reopening: More sopapillas, please

Baby Boomers and hip millennials rejoice. Casa Bonita is back. The 47-year-old Lakewood institution of Mexican food, roaming Mariachi, cliff divers and Black Bart s Haunted Cave will reopen in September, reports Bob Wooley of Colorado Community Media. In the meantime, the new management (with the same Arizona-based owners) are offering public tours hourly and daily to show off its remodeling and to offer up some souvenirs for sale. With so many dining institutions choosing to close for good, fans have been fretting over their kitschy fix for all-you-can-eat platters and frosty margaritas for the older Bonitans. In April  Save Casa Bonita! fans rallied outside the 52,000-square-foot landmark at 6715 West Colfax Ave.

Yep, Casa Bonita has announced they are going to be reopening this fall. According to the Denver Gazette, Casa Bonita located in Lakewood 6715 West Colfax Avenue will reopen in September. This means fans of the historic restaurant will be able to once again experience cliff diving, Black Bart s cave, and the oh-so-popular Casa Bonita sopapillas. In January of 2021, the owners of Casa Bonita stated the restaurant would reopen, eventually. We now have confirmation of when that will happen.

Historic Colorado Concept Casa Bonita Files for Bankruptcy

Casa Bonita, a Mexican restaurant and historic landmark in Colorado, filed for bankruptcy earlier this month.  The nearly 50-year-old restaurant is known for its 30-foot waterfall, cliff divers, stage shows, musicians, and amusement arcade inside 52,000 square feet. The restaurant, which can hold 1,000 people, was featured on an episode of the long-running cartoon Southpark and was declared a historic landmark by the Lakewood Historical Society.
