Marquette City Commission appoints 8 to various boards, committees | News, Sports, Jobs

rspitza@miningjournal.net MARQUETTE The Marquette City Commission appointed three individuals and reappointed five more to various boards and committees at its meeting on Feb. 8. Ellen Weingarten, Alex Tiseo and James Susorney were all reappointed to the city’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for a three-year term expiring on Jan. 29, 2024. Aaron Andres and Michael Larson were also reappointed to the city Planning Commission for terms expiring Feb. 15, 2024. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board advises the City Commission on operations of the city’s parks system, Lakeview Arena and other recreation programs, according to the city website. The Planning Commission helps develop and adopt a Master Plan for the city among other items, such as reviewing development proposals and providing zoning recommendations.

City offices closed Monday | News, Sports, Jobs

Feb 11, 2021 MARQUETTE City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright St., will be closed on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day. Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time. There will be no change in garbage pickup for city residents. On Tuesday, Feb. 16, city facilities will continue being closed to the public due to the directives from the State of Michigan. This includes City Hall, the Municipal Service Center, Fire Stations 1 and 2, the Police Department, Lakeview Arena, the Senior Center, the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Water Treatment Plant. Jan 27, 2021 MARQUETTE The City of Marquette provides under City Code, Chapter 2 Administration, Division 3 Finance, Public Relations; Section 2-522 Policies and Procedures a mechanism for community stakeholders to submit for waiver of City fees and/or in-kind services provided by the City and/or cash payments. Requests for Promotional Funds may include grant funding, fee relief, provision of in-kind City services, cash or a combination of any or all of these items. Applications for Fiscal Year 2021-2022, Oct. 1, 2021 through Sept. 30, 2022 must be received or postmarked by March 31. Any applications received or postmarked after this date will not be eligible for consideration. It is important to note all applications may not be funded. Funding will depend upon City priorities and available dollars.
