SHEBOYGAN - Sheboygan County reported only 13 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, but another death, this time a person in their 40s.
The death brings the county s total to 133. Five people in the 40 to 49 age group have died.
Of the other deaths, one was between the ages of 10 and 19, three people were in their 30s, five were in their 50s, 21 were in their 60s and 28 were in their 70s. People in their 80s account for more than half of the deaths, with 70.
As of Wednesday, the county had a total of 13,113 positive cases. Nine people were hospitalized.
County Administrator Adam Payne reviewed the past year of the pandemic in a presentation to the County Board on Tuesday night. He compared total COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. over 533,000 to other major events like World War II, which had 405,000 American deaths, and the 2017-18 influenza season, which had 61,000.
