It will be a bust weekend for classical music lovers next week as the Westmorland Orchestra and Lakeland Sinfonia take over the Westmorland Hall of Kendal Leisure Centre.
A MUSIC society has welcomed distinguished musical figures to its helm as it prepares for concerts later this year and into 2022. The trustees of Lakeland Sinfonia Concert Society have made several new appointments in recent months, including a new treasurer, vice president and president. Chairman of the trustees, Peter Lever, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Thorben Dittes from Royal Northern Sinfonia as our new president and Stephen Threlfall, Artistic Director of the Lake District Summer Music Festival, as our new vice president.” Thorben Dittes, director of Royal Northern Sinfonia and Classical Programme, has been a vital supporter of Lakeland Sinfonia’s Kendal programme for several years.
