Single-engine plane crash in Lakeland, two occupants on board with injuries Published  article LAKELAND, Fla. - Lakeland Police and Lakeland Fire Department are on the scene of a plane crash in Lakeland near the Lakeland Linder International Airport. Shortly before 2:30 pm on Saturday, at 4150 South Pipkin Road, a single-engine plane with two adult occupants crashed in the industrial park area. The area is located just off the airport property. Both of the occupants were airlifted with serious injuries. Fortunately, no one on the ground was injured. Both the FAA and NTSB have been notified and will oversee the crash investigation.

The Blue Angels arrive at Sun n Fun with new Super Hornet fighter jets

In addition to showcasing their new Super Hornets, this year the Blue Angels are featuring Fat Albert, the team’s newly acquired C130J Hercules transport. The plane is noted for its short takeoff and landing abilities. Originally scheduled to arrive at the airport at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the team was delayed by about 2½ hours because of severe weather sweeping through Pensacola, where the team is based. However, Fat Albert crewmembers were on hand by 10 a.m. That plane arrives in advance of air shows caring U.S. Navy aircraft maintenance personnel to prepare show sites for the jets’ arrivals.
