SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An explosion and subsequent fire at a South Lake Tahoe home Friday was the result of a butane honey oil (BHO) processing explosion, according to South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD).
On January 15, 2021 at approximately noon, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) responded to the call of structure fire in the 900 block of Alameda Avenue. Upon arrival they found the fire was confined to the home s kitchen and the occupant had been able to put the flames out and there was smoke in the home and attic space. SLTFR observed signs of a marijuana grow at the location and contacted SLTPD.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Lake Tahoe Basin from 10:00 p.m. Monday to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Expect winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected, mainly above 6500 feet. Under that elevation, winds are expected 15-25 mph with gusts 30-45 mph.
Over the ridges, winds 60-80 mph are forecast with gusts exceeding 130 mph.
The winds will be coming from the east/northeast.
The warning is mainly for the western half of the Lake Tahoe Basin, Southern Lassen, Eastern Plumas, Eastern Sierra Counties, and northern Mono County west of Highway 395.
