Jackson siblings bring Laura Ingalls Wilder story to life

(Photo courtesy Justin Lessman / Jackson County Pilot) WALNUT GROVE For three weekends each July, Walnut Grove hosts the outdoor amphitheater production of the Wilder Pageant, sharing stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s childhood years on the southwest Minnesota prairie through “Fragments of a Dream.” A trio of Jackson siblings is, for the sixth consecutive year, cast in the production. Not only do the children of Justin and Amber Lessman get to perform, they have leading roles.

Outdoornews March 11, 2021 District 1 – Baudette area CO Demosthenes Regas (Blackduck) reports working ATVing enforcement and angling activity throughout this past week. The warm weather brought out lots of anglers. Violations encountered and addressed this past week included several violations for operating ATVs in restricted areas of the Chippewa National Forest and on nonmotorized trails, and angling license violations.  CO Corey Sura (Baudette) spent most of his time this past week on Lake of the Woods, and was joined by several other officers from throughout the state. Sura also spent time reviewing a variety of required online training.  CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked walleye and pike anglers on Lake of the Woods. Conditions are deteriorating fast, and some accesses are already being shut down. 

Water control structure, fish barrier project nearing completion on Murray County lake

Project in northeast Murray County anticipated to improve water quality, wildlife habitat. 8:00 am, Feb. 26, 2021 × CURRIE Contractors will soon complete work to install a new water control structure and pump system at Lake Maria in northeast Murray County. The project on the 425-acre shallow lake will provide benefits to outdoor recreation, wildlife and property owners. It also includes features that will improve efficiency and safety for staff operating the control structure. The new water control structure is located at the lake’s south end, near Murray County 30. It features new water pumps and a remodeled utility building to house electronic controls and equipment. The project also includes upgrades to an electric fish barrier that s designed to prevent common carp migration upstream into Lake Maria.
