the Enterprise staff LAKE PLACID Construction along Main Street continues this week with more work expected at the Saranac Avenue intersection and along the north end of the street, as well as on Mirror Lake Drive. This week, construction crews plan to continue to install a new water main, starting on the north end of the street at the Saranac Avenue intersection. Crews plan to start connecting service to the new water line, starting at that intersection and going to the Lake Placid Public Library. Mirror Lake Drive will be under construction as a crew starts grading for a new curb. Stormwater drainage will be installed at the north end of the street near Players Bar & Grill.
aflynn@lakeplacidnews.com LAKE PLACID After taking the weekend off, construction crews upgrading Main Street plan to continue their excavation of the water main from Monday to Friday, May 10 to 14, according to Haley Breen, community development director for the town of North Elba and village of Lake Placid. After installing the 16-inch water line, working from the north end of the village, workers pressure-test and disinfect the new line before connecting service to the buildings. The target area this week is from Saranac Avenue to Hayes Street. This week, workers began installing stormwater drainage on Parkside Drive, working toward Mirror Lake Drive, and that section of Parkside Drive was closed for the week. Mirror Lake Drive was also closed from Saranac Avenue to Swiss Road for several days beginning May 3 for pavement removal.
