The ftse 100 just flat, a flat close yesterday. The dax was essentially fairly flat yesterday. Up just ten points. The cac 40 yesterday doing a little bit better, up 0. 2 . First pointing out ftse up 9 out of the last 11. We have seen yields continue to decline in spain. Just 5. 23 , but still capped. Spain requesting financial assistance. Well keep our eye on the uk as we head toward the bank of england meeting this week p. Dollar index has hit a one month low. Youre redollar up to eurodollar up near the high we saw yesterday. Rallied 293 points. The nasdaq 46, and the s p 30. Gold dropped 13 dollars oil was up small change. Oracle surprised wall street by topping earnings expectations. The stock traded around 35 dollars after the close. And a 2 year compromise budget deal has been passed by congress and will be signed by president obama. What was a surprise was when i was speaking to people yesterday about this, i thought the market might fall off a bit if there were a taper and it did. 60 seconds later it was up 12 points and then by the end of the day we were up 30. A plane land at the wrong missouri plane last night. The flight to chicago midway was scheduled to land at the nearby Branson Airport with a longer runway. Nobody was hurt. Thats the good news. It is not clear whether the plane landed at the airport by accident or whether there was an actual emergency. And picking up on what becky was talking about in news around target, Neiman Marcus is saying thieves stole some of its customers payment card information and made unauthorized charges over the holiday season. No estimate yet on how many customers may be affected. Reuters reporting that target and Neiman Marcus may not be the only u. S. Retailers breached during the Holiday Shopping season. Three other wellknown retailers were hit with smaller breaches than the one that hit target using similar techniques.
