Update May 5, 2021: This story has been updated to include comments from Okoboji Superintendent Todd Abrahamson.
The Spirit Lake School Board voted unanimously on April 28 to scale back some of the district s COVID-19 mitigation strategies, and some of the other area school districts plan to do the same. Spirit Lake s vote came one day after the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors lifted mask requirements within the Dickinson County Courthouse. Officials with Spirit Lake Schools said the board was unaware of the county s vote at the time, and the district made its decision independently. Gaps in data from some districts have been extrapolated.
