BUNDABERG OFFSHORE With the new moon tides this weekend, the trout and red throat emperor should be chewing in the shallows. Using pilchards as bait and jigging 5 soft plastics will get you the bite. With plenty of water moving the Spanish mackerel should be feeding as well. Setting unweighted gar out the back while you re fishing for reefies on the bottom sure is a deadly technique.
BUNDABERG INSHORE The Spanish mackerel should be thick on all the inshore reefs this weekend.

Subscriber only Lake Monduran was abuzz with the Monduran Anglers and Stocking Association s inaugural Hummingbird Lake Monduran Barra Classic on March 26-28 2021. Anglers travelled from all over Queensland and interstate to compete for the $9200 in cash and prizes. The event was held in perfect weather conditions where the anglers competed in teams of two and had to catch a bag of five Barra to be eligible for the first prize of $3000 cash. If a team caught more than five Barra, they could only count their longest five to contribute to their bag .
The shallows out at the Bunker Group this weekend should be red hot. With the big new moon tides, the coral trout and red throat emperor should be super active. Using pilchards as bait, and 5 soft plastics will get you the bite. If you re keen to chase the reds in the deeper water, I d definitely be making sure you re fishing one hour each side of the top and bottom of the tides.
BUNDABERG INSHORE The Spanish mackerel are definitely the standout fish on the inshore reefs at the moment. One of the most fun ways to chase the Spanish is definitely working poppers on the surface.

BUNDABERG OFFSHORE How good was it to see so many big boats out and about last weekend around the Bundaberg region? Good news is that most boats managed to secure a quality mixed bag of reef fish including red emperor, coral trout, grass sweetlips, and parrot. On the other side, nearly every boat reported losing lots of trophy reef fish to sharks. Other than a couple of showers, this weekend s forecast is looking alright to get out and have another crack offshore.
LOCAL BEACHES February is a fantastic time of the year to chase dart, whiting and flathead along many of our local beaches between Fraser Island and 1770.
