The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) announced the blue-green algae warning at Melvern Lake has been reduced to Watch status on Wednesday, May 11.
A citizen s tip led to the arrests of two people in connection with a burglary committed Saturday near Lake Melvern in Osage County, said Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells.
He identified those in custody as Kim L. Salzman, 64, and Christopher L. Winters, 53, both of Melvern.
A citizen called the Osage County Sheriff s Office Communications Center shortly after 3:15 p.m. Saturday to report people might be removing items from private property near S. Jordan Road and K-31 highway near Melvern Lake, Wells said in a news release.
The caller then told a dispatcher those people were leaving the area in a vehicle, and gave a description of it while also sharing the direction it was going, he said.
