Ccsd Officials Say. They still dont know who or when the mercury was brought to the school. But they insist the school has been thoroughly checked out. We have got to get back in the routine of education, the campus is safe, its been checked and checked again and clean thoroughly. Many people are wondering exactly what the epa has been doing while school was closed. Were told they worked with an outside contractor to replace some floor tiles, removed part of the gym floor. And replaced and while School Officials are confident the school is safe, there is still concern that traces of mercury may still be in some of the students homes. Our crews spoke to one students grandmother, who had her home evaluated. Georgette byrd says the epa found traces of mercury in living areas.
