Low stream flow in the Lake Fork River below Lake San Cristobal has prompted partial release of an in-stream water right from the lake, which is controlled by the Colorado Water Conservation Board. At their meeting Sept. 15, Hinsdale County Commissioner Robert Hurd reported that at the request of both CWCB and Colorado Parks & Wildlife, the first of those releases 9 cubic feet per second was released Sept. 14 for the benefit of the downstream environment. Per the request of CWCB and based on consultation with Colorado Parks & Wildlife, 9 cfs was removed from the pool and released downstream each day for a seven-day period from Sept. 14-20 with the goal of maintaining a 30 cfs downstream flow in the river.
