minnesota get more than 20 inches of snow saturday. that s what caused all the problems. and for more on this wild weekend storm let s check in with weather channel s maria larosa. good morning, maria. reporter: good morning, lynn. this monster of a storm continues to push off to the east. now, some areas have seen the snow let up a bit, but the winds are still howling. so from the great lakes, minneapolis to milwaukee, cincinnati, indianapolis, when you have those winds, 34 miles per hour, you re going to see the reduced visibility, tough, tough travel and of course the brutal wind chills. now, the story across the east into the southeast will be the heavy rain. interior new england is going to be the ice, the sleet piling up during the afternoon and into the evening. now, from sunday into monday we re going to see most of the wet weather move off, but it is going to be a nasty overnight for new york, boston, philadelphia with heavy, heavy rainfall. and then with the cold air behind

philadelphia with heavy, heavy rainfall. and with cold air behind it, now we re talk about the lake effect kicking in once again. so heavy snow piling up in the lake belts across the southeast. it could produce snowflakes in as far south as atlanta in through the appalachians and the higher elevations of north carolina and into south carolina. as far as the totals we re expecting over the next 48 hours it is going to be focused around the snowbelt in the midwest and we re talking anywhere from a couple of inches to half a foot. we re going to see it last for a few days. not monday into tuesday. that circulation is going to continue to bring that snow off the lakes, again, piling up in the kiaras that have been hit hard over the last week or two. detroit, over the next 48 hours, five to eight inches. grand rapids, we re talking half a foot. thanks so much. coming up in a few minutes, we re going to have a live report from minneapolis where

some of the favored lake-effect snow belt areas is doing well. it s more snow here. they ll o get more snow in aruse ta county and northern parts of maine. that s because of that clipper, a record five inches. going to disappear out over the atlantic event. bend back in as we head on through tomorrow as winter storm watches and warnings are up for northern maine for that system coming back as a pretty good snowstorm. and then the lake effect kicking in. if you re in white, you re under a lake-effect snow warning. heavy snow in the forecast once again. this is now that the cold air is starting to blow across the great lakes. watch the time line here. this is sunday at 11:00 a.m. and as we go through the next couple of days, nothing really changes here. i mean you can see the white staying in the forecast. lake-effect snow will be flying through tonight, through overnight, through monday, possibly even in some places through tuesday. the low isn t going anywhere. the cold air isn t goi
